Cape Verde. In the January parliamentary elections, the
former Liberation Movement Partido Africano da IndependÍncia
de Cabo Verde (PAICV) withdrew government power after ten
years in opposition. According to
Countryaah, PAICV received 40 of the National
Assembly's 72 seats. PAICV also withdrew the presidential
power in a very even election in February.
In the second round of elections, former Prime Minister
Pedro Pires won with just 17 votes overweight by just over a
quarter of a million cast votes over the counterpart Carlos
Veiga. New Prime Minister became Josť Maria Neves.
